The time to return to the Campus grounds is here once again and like various other student organisations, the Gozo University Group set up their information stand on quad, for what it said is "one of the most exciting weeks at University, that is Freshers' Week."
Freshers'Week gives the student the opportunity to feel what the campus life is all about and to get to know more about student organisations which will be of value throughout their years at University.
Hundreds of Gozitans were welcomed on this first exciting week at University. GUG said that is was able to offer the students lots of information about faculties, accommodation and mobility as well as day-to-day tips about living in Malta.
Students were also provided with the application for the subsidies grant, "another successful accomplishment by GUG to help Gozitans studying in Malta," it said. The maintenance grant will be given out directly to the students' bank account in three separate instalments throughout the year.
For the second consecutive year, GUG also presented students with the GUGPLUS+ Card. This card gives students the opportunity to benefit from discounted purchases from a number of outlets both in Gozo and Malta.
Together with various freebies and also slices of fresh Gozitan ftira, GUG gave out the official booklet, an information booklet which also showcases Gozitan students on campus' work and achievements.
GUG said that it is very pleased with the feedback received during the week and urged all Gozitan students to approach any executive member from the organisation with any questions they might have.
GUG added that it is "thrilled that such a busy week went by successfully and we were able to be there for our members, in particular for first year students during their first week at University of Malta."
The Gozo University Group also announced that two of its executive members, Joseph Mifsud and Jean Claud Grima have won the annual BAY competition involving all other organisations.
During the week the GUG welcomed President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, the Minister for Gozo Dr.Anton Refalo, the opposition leader, Dr.Simon Busutill and MEP Roberta Metsola to the University grounds and the GUG stand, during which issues surrounding Gozitan university life arose.
