This is the second time that local dance school Centre Stage Dance Academy has been chosen to perform in Dance Proms, which is a yearly dance show that takes place at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
The dance chosen for this year's Dance Proms is a Cuban-style number entitled 'HAVANA TROPICANA' and was choreographed by Natalie Sciortino. A total of 27 dancers will be taking part in this dance, all Gozitans, with ages ranging from 14 to 26 years.
The group will be leaving Malta on the 29th of October and the performance will take place the following day, Sunday 30th October. This is an event supported by the Malta Arts fund.
Dance Proms is a unique collaborative project between three of the world's leading dance training and awarding bodies, the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) and the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), with the Royal Albert Hall.
The final choreographies that form part of the Dance Proms line-up are chosen from among hundreds of other filmed choreographies from all over the world by a panel of professional judges, including one highly experienced representative of each of the three partner dance examinations boards.
A total of over 450 dancers will be taking part in this year's Dance Proms plus several esteemed guest acts, such as dancers from the Royal Ballet and champions from the world of Ballroom, and they will be performing in front of an audience of around 6000 persons including the Dance Proms patrons the likes of Darcey Bussell, Matt Flint, Arlene Phillis and the popular dance troupe Flawless.
