The San Lawrenz Local Council, as part of the activities to mark Jum Ghawdex, distributed pencil cases marked with the words Lawrenzjan u Kburi – as well as stationery and a pictorial map of the village, to local school children.
In short note Mayor Noel Formosa talked about the importance of the sense of belonging as Gozitans and Lawrenzjani, "this makes us feel not only proud of what we have but also help us to take care of our heritage and culture," he said.
The Jum Ghawdex ceremony will be held later this month to commemorate the 218th anniversary of the uprising of the Gozitans against the French led by Archpriest Saver Cassar in 1798.
