Police have advised that yesterday afternoon a 30-year old French man was grievously injured after he fell around 4 metres while abseiling in the area of Grotta, Xlendi, Gozo.
The incident happened at about 5.15pm. Members from the Civil Protection, together with those from the Armed Forces of Malta were called to assist.
An AFM helicopter winched the man to safety and took him to the AFM Airwing where an ambulance was waiting to transfer him to Mater Dei Hospital for further treatment, where he was later certified as suffering from grievous injuries.
Police investigation is still ongoing.
