Another two injured protected birds have been retrieved by BirdLife Malta. The NGO said that both birds, which were recovered on Wednesday, were confirmed shot by the veterinarian, and sadly, due to the gunshot injuries they sustained, both died.
BirdLife said in a statement today that, “these latest two casualties of this year’s autumn hunting season are a Common Kestrel and a European Nightjar.”
“The Common Kestrel was found at Mtarfa, it was confirmed shot with major injury to one of its wings. The Nightjar was recovered from Birzebbuga with damage to its wing feathers from a shotgun injury.”
BirdLife stated that, “this now means that the autumn hunting season has claimed a total of 17 known casualties.”
The NGO concluded by saying, “if one considered all the reports received from the public, together with the various other birds observed carrying injuries from gunshots, this is just the tip of the iceberg, making it one of the worst autumn hunting seasons in the past recent years.”

When is this spineless government going to put a stop to this seasons hunting? It is disgusting. People are wretching in disgust and Muscat is doing NOTHING.
