The skies over Gozo were lit up on Saturday evening by the spectacular, colourful displays for the opening of this year’s 17th edition of the Malta International Fireworks Festival, which took place in Xaghra.
The evening was hailed as a huge success, as large crowds of locals, Maltese and tourists made their way to the best vantage points in Xaghra to watch the fireworks against the spectacular backdrop of the island of Gozo.
Entertainment during the evening was provided to the spectators live on stage by Cash and Band.
The companies featured in the competition were Phoenix Fireworks Ltd (UK) and Rozzi Fireworks (USA). There were also displays by local fireworks factories to get the evening underway.
