The Annual General Meeting of the Gozo University Group, chaired by Manuel Xuereb, was held on Saturday at the the University of Malta Gozo Campus.
The amendments to the current statute were proposed and approved and the new Executive was elected. A synopsis of the past year’s events was also given.
The previous executive members reported on their respective roles and events carried out throughout the year, which were described as challenging, but successful events.
The President, Rachel Galea, spoke about teamwork and the importance of determination and hard-work. She added that these tools are essential for the Group to better achieve its aims and goals each year.
Galea is in her second term as President of the GUG organisation, and with more experience and confidence in this role she said that she is willing to lead the GUG with determination.
The statute was amended through a unanimous vote, leading to the AGM’s change of date between mid-July to mid-August. The statute’s amendments also led to the EGM’s change of date to February instead of December.
The GUG said that the statute is also to be updated with the new logo which was confirmed during the AGM of 2017 to commemorate the organisation’s 30th anniversary since its foundation.
Malcolm Dimech, Joseph Mifsud and Jessica Said were appointed positions on the Vigilance Board. Since there were no candidates contesting for the same position within the executive, no elections were needed.
The GUG’s new executive is: Rachel Galea as President, RenĂ©e Formosa as Vice-President, Nicole Debrincat as Executive Secretary, Elaine Haber as Information Secretary, Christoph Caruana as Events Officer, Sean Grech as Education Officer, Samuel Buttigieg as Public Relations Officer, Corrine Zahra as Social Policy Officer, Charlene Scerri as Social Media Officer, Maria Azzopardi as Financial Officer, Chris Mercieca as Marketing Officer and Mark Farrugia as International Officer.
