On Thursday, children attending Gozo College Victoria Primary School were encouraged to take their pets to school for a blessing.
This special event was held to mark the occasion of the Feast of St Francis of Assisi the Patron Saint of animals and ecology. The many animals brought to school included dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, hamsters and fish.
During the morning assembly several students were encouraged to talk about the role of pets and the importance in their lives.
The blessings were made by Fr John Muscat Parish Priest of the Sacred Heart of Fontana.
Known as the Happy School, students are also encouraged to take their pets to school when it is the pet’s birthday.
