In an effort to promote the proper use of Maltese Language, Bank of Valletta is supporting l-Ghaqda tal-Malti (Universita`) in the publication of ‘Lehen il-Malti’, a publication that aims at creating awareness about Maltese orthography and the proper use of the Maltese Language.
Dr Mark Sammut, President of L-Ghaqda tal-Malti presented a copy of the latest issue of Lehen il-Malti to Edward Muscat Azzopardi, Head Marketing at Bank of Valletta, thanking the bank for its support towards initiatives organised by L-Ghaqda tal-Malti.
“At Bank of Valletta we believe in the importance of maintaining our linguistic identity. Through our support to L-Ghaqda tal-Malti we are making a direct contribution towards the community, strengthening our cultural heritage and ensuring that what has been passed down through generations will live on for future generations,” explained Mr. Muscat Azzopardi.
L-Ghaqda tal-Malti was co-founded in 1931 by poet Ruzar Briffa and novelist Guze` Bonnici, both medical students at the time. Its aims were, and still are: the spread of the use of the Maltese Language in all sectors, in particular among University students. The latest issue of Lehen il-Malti continues in this tradition. This issue includes some poems penned by Dun Karm, which had never been published before, as well as other articles of interest to those who cherish the Maltese Language, Maltese History and culture in general.
