Gozo tunnel: All planning processes must be respected – Zminijietna

Gozo tunnel: All planning processes must be respected - ZminijietnaZminijietna, in a statement today has said that, Dr Franco Mercieca – Chair of the Steering Committee for the proposed Malta-Gozo tunnel, “should have some decency and wait until all studies are made public, before making generic comments in some media.”

As an example, the left think-tank organisation said that, the Environment impact assessment (EIA) “will provide data on the ecological, social, and related biophysical effects of the proposed project on the environment.”

“It also provides an insight on alternatives and measures to be adopted before any commitment. Studies will indicate if the project is environmentally sustainable or not,” the organisation added.

Apart from this, Zminijietna said the “the amount of interviewed people for or against the tunnel is too small.”

Zminijietna concluded by saying that it “believes in participatory democracy where the public have the right to express themselves on this issue, via a national referendum.”
