Members of the Kunsill Nazzjonali ta-Zghazagh (KNZ) executive, had the opportunity earlier this afternoon for their first meeting with Prime Minister Joseph Muscat in his office at the Castille.
KNZ explained that the purpose of the meeting was to familiarise the Prime Minister with the Council’s work plan as well as to explain its priorities for the term to reach more youth and work closely with their member organisations.
The SDG Champions’ programme which the Council is working on and will be formally launching this Thursday, was the main topic of conversation in the meeting.
KNZ said that its decision to prioritise sustainability is further emphasised by the knowledge that this week the World reach Earth Overshoot Day noted that humans have consumed more resources than they are able to regenerate for the year.
The executive said that the meeting was a “fruitful one” and the Council hoped that it would be able to work with the Government on a number of issues throughout this term “to strengthen youths’ voices and put youth issues at the forefront of the national agenda.”
