Permits issued for work on the Villa Lauri project in Birkirkara

Permits issued for work on the Villa Lauri project in BirkirkaraThe Planning Authority has this week issued permits for work on Villa Lauri in Birkirkara. The project will see the conversion of the property into a hostel for Gozitan students, as well as for short stay social accommodation for relatives of patients hospitalised in Malta.

This was made possible through an agreement reached between the Ministry for Gozo and the Franciscan religious community, which was announced in January [1]. Villa Lauri consists of 4 storeys and it will accommodate up to 33 people.

Works on the villa include the demolition and replacement of dangerous structures, alterations to improve the amenity of building, and completion of facade restoration, with an estimated cost of €1 million for the refurbishment and construction, the Ministry for Gozo had said.

The next stage in the project is the tendering process, when once completed, will enable the work to get underway.

Very good!
But I would recommend also, before you spend a lot of money to build a tunnel for students and workers to buy “White Rocks” and make it happen to stay there for the week. For both parties.

As much as I tried, I was not able to understand you comment, Mr Treptow! Maybe I am getting too old and loosing my comprehension abilities.

I would suggest to the Minister (I am sure that have thought about it) that a Laundry room will be set up with Commercial small machines as washers and Dryers so the students staying there do not have to carry their dirty laundry each weekend as they travel to Gozo and back with clean ones. Could be money operated too.

Yes you getting old . 😉 we all getting older .
This House is for 33 person ?
How many students going daily from Gozo to Malta , and how many workers are going daily ?
It is a cold drop on a hot stone – this house .
So now think about my idea again !
White Rock near Pembroke is an empty property since …?
Using the resources !!!!
Second home for student and workers . At a reasonable price !!!
