Gozitan students are not to be deprived of ITS courses in Gozo – GTA

Gozitan students are not to be deprived of ITS courses in Gozo - GTAThe Gozo Tourism Association, referring to recent news about whether ITS courses would take place at the Qala Campus in Gozo, affirmed its position, that “Gozitan students are not to be deprived to follow any ITS courses in Gozo.”

Prospective students had at first been advised that courses at the Gozo Campus would not be open this year due to the small uptake, however this was changed on Monday, with information sent to students that courses would indeed start next week.

In a statement, the GTA said that it has always looked upon ITS campus in Gozo as a “very important vocational institution and a must to have on the Island.”

“This especially due to fact that the Gozitan economy is so much dependent on tourism,” the GTA added.

“The Gozo Tourism Association is totally in favour and expects that courses at the ITS Campus in Gozo should be made available at all times,” it said.

The Association argued that “in order to have more students applying for ITS courses in Gozo, the Gozo Tourism Association believes that all stakeholders involved are to synergise their efforts together to raise more interest and awareness in Gozitan students to attend ITS courses at the very equipped campus in Qala.”

The Association went on to say that it believes that the human resources are “part and parcel of the Gozitan touristic offer and as such, tourism on Gozo needs to be serviced by well-trained employees in all categories of this vibrant sector.”

It concluded by saying that “any lack of learning and training opportunities in the touristic sector on Gozo, will impact negatively on tourism.”
