The Ministry for Gozo has started working on an EU Project under the Interreg Europe Programme, titled – Intencive.
The project is aimed at finding accessible and user-friendly models and tools to ensure high quality health services to all citizens.
The project team said that the population is decreasing and ageing especially in rural and remote areas all around Europe. There is a need for accessible and user-friendly models, practices and tools in order to continue providing high quality health services to all citizens despite their age or place of living.
The project Intencive (Innovation and Technology Enhancing Customer Oriented Health Services) project tackles these challenges.
Its objective is to improve the implementation of policies and programmes in terms of health technology in an innovation- driven and customer-oriented way.
The Intencive project started with an exchange of experience which includes compiling a state of the art report concerning eHealth and customer orientation in project regions, identifying good practices and evaluating them with the use of BIKVA model. BIKVA model, which was developed in Denmark, highlights customer involvement.
By using the model, the project truly guarantees that good practices are selected bottom up and it gives voice to the people using the services.
The project also includes study visits to the project regions and thematic workshops on the subject. Each region will compile a local stakeholder group which will foster interregional learning process of health technology innovation.
The Intencive project got underway with an opening meeting in Seinäjoki, Finland last month. Intencive project partners are Regional Council of South Ostrobothnia (FI), Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (FI), Pannon Business Network Association (HU), Ministry for Gozo (MT), ID2Santé, Innovation and Development of the Health Sector in Bretagne (FR) and Valdecilla Biomedical Research Institute (ES).
The project is divided in two phases; first one lasts 2.5 years during which good practices and experience change is conducted and action plans are developed, and the second phase lasts one year when monitoring and follow up take place.
Total budget for the project is €0.97 million and it is co-funded by the European Union from the Interreg Europe programme.
