The Gaulitanus Choir’s programme of events for the festive season includes a concert at the Xaghra Basilica, on Saturday, the 28th of December, starting at 7.30pm.
Organised by the Xaghra Local Council, the Gozo choir said that it will present a different repertoire, and also features the Gaulitanus Orchestral Ensemble.
The festive programme for the choir reaches a climax on January 1st 2020, when once more it will musically usher in the New Year with the 8th edition of A New Year’s Toast.
The concert will be featuring the Gaulitanus Choir and its soloists, under the artistic and musical direction of Colin Attard.
This will be held at the Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz, Gozo, on New Year’s Day at 19.30 hrs. Entrance for the event is free on a first-come-first-served basis.
The Choir said that the chosen programme will present a festive musical repertoire intended to set a positive mood for the year’s start and to offer an ideal way to celebrate the first day of the New Year.
There will be bouncy Festive Season numbers alternate with some a cappella ones, whereas some exciting Verdi operatic choruses are juxtaposed with some excerpts reminiscing the choir’s three concert tours abroad in the past year.
Charming numbers by the great Welsh composer Ivor Novello will complement the programme.
A New Year’s Toast rounds up the Gaulitanus Choir’s first phase of its 2019-2020 season, whilst also being the first event celebrating the choir’s 30th anniversary.
