The Second Joseph Vella Memorial Lecture has been announced by Fondazzjoni Belt Victoria, which will be held at Il-Hagar Museum in Gozo.
Joan Abela PhD will look at – Unearthing Gozo’s Lost History through Notarial Deeds. Dr Abela, also a University lecturer, is Consultant Historian for the Valletta Notarial Archives Rehabilitation project.
She said that she is excited that this project brought out new documentation that fills holes in Gozo’s medieval (and pre-1551) history, explaining that primary sources in local archives are rather sparse.
This talk will be taking place on Friday, the 28th of February, starting at 7.30 pm and forms part of the programme of events on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the cultural centre’s opening, as well as the second of Professor Vella’s sudden demise.
