The Chamber of Pharmacists is strongly urging the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister For Health, to order an immediate lockdown and travel ban.
In a statement on Sunday, the Chamber said that “whilst acknowledging that it might be considered a draconian measure by some,” it must be implemented without delay in a further effective attempt to ensure the “flattening of the curve” of the covid-19 spread, “in the words of our learned public health and infection control experts.”
The Chamber’s call endorses those of its colleagues in the CMTU, conjoined and separately MAM, MUBE, UHM and other unions, confederations and significantly medical specialists associations.
“These organisations are taking up the advice of our European umbrella organisations who have preceded us in this unprecedented fast evolvement of the situation and advising us that it’s better to be decisive and draconian than reactive,” the Chamber said.
The Chamber conclude by saying that it “supports fully such a decision to safeguard further the population, especially the most vulnerable, our precious healthcare professionals and other healthcare workers in public and private practice whom we salute and never cease to thank for their professionalism, commitment and self denial. ”
