The Ramblers’ Association of Malta (RAM) being on principle, against hunting and trapping notes with satisfaction the government’s decision to prohibit spring hunting. Given that the European Union is threatening legal action against Malta and the possibility that the Maltese people will have to carry the weight of a substantial fine, RAM feels that there was no other satisfactory course of action.
Having maintained the above RAM also understands the hurt of the members of the hunting and trapping community at the loss of their pursuit and recognizes their right to protest on the basis of promises made and assurances given to them in April 2003.
RAM feels strongly that what could not have been honoured should never have been promised in the first place.
