The Tourism Ministry in a statement said that, out of more than 860 calls received, 157 have requested Malta Tourism Authority inspectors visit their establishment to carry out the necessary verifications so they can be issued with a Covid-19 Compliance sticker.
These calls, which were regarding the publication of protocols for reopening of tourism establishments from Friday, were received on the Malta Tourism Authority’s helpline and at its Gozo unit.
The Covid-19 Compliance sticker, which certifies that an establishment is compliant with the respective safety protocols, can be displayed at the entrance to the establishment for as long as it remains fully compliant.
The inspections started today and will continue over the coming days and weeks.
The Ministry said that the remaining calls were from owners of establishments enquiring about different aspects of the protocols and what they need to do to become fully compliant in the shortest possible timeframe.
The Malta Tourism Authority said that it is ready to assist and advise so that tourism and hospitality establishments reopen as quickly as possible.
