29 new Covid-19 cases, made up of clusters and sporadic cases29 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the past 24-hours, and once again, 4 new recoveries, the health authorities have said.

Giving the information on social media, it said that today’s new cases include 2 cases linked to the Paceville cluster, 3 cases from Mount Carmel Hospital, 5 linked to positive family members and 1 linked to a previously known case at work, no details have been given for the remaining 18 cases. The authorities said that “contact tracing is ongoing.”

As of today’s date, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control [1] has said that for Malta, the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is 63.0. To give other examples, France stands at 29.0, Bulgaria 41.3 and Belgium is 61.7.

It noted that the cases reported for Malta do not include the positive migrant cases, who disembarked in Malta and were quarantined upon arrival.

There are now 440 active cases, with 1,141 cases in total. 692 have recovered and there have been 9 deaths.

1,882 swab tests were taken over the past 24-hours, with 145,267 swabs taken since the start.

The authorities are recommending that the public avoid all crowded areas.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All 3 swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made.
