There have been 21 new Covid-19 cases recorded in the past 24-hours, and 54 recoveries. Health authorities advised that today’s cases “are still being investigated.”
From yesterday’s 29 cases, authorities said that 8 were family members of previously known cases, 1 case was from a social gathering with other positive cases, 2 were imported and 1 case was a work colleague of a previously known case. Details were not given for the other outstanding 17 cases.
There were 2,326 swab tests taken, with 247,354 having been taken since the start.
There are now 590 active cases, with 2,979 cases in total. 2,358 have recovered and there have been 31 deaths, the Ministry said.
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and [1] Control – is showing for Malta that the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000, not including today’s figures is 132.5 with the number of cases still at 2,929 and 29 deaths. Malta is in seventh position in the EU/EEA and UK. Spain is at the top with 319.9.
Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.
All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
