A project to install 10 new Automated External Defibrillator stations around Gozo, has been launched by Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri, at a cost of around €50,000.
This has been made possible through an agreement signed with the voluntary association the Malta Cadets Corp (formerly ERRC Cadets) for a joint project to install a number of AED stations around Gozo.
Minister Camilleri explained that in addition, there will be upgrading carried out of the 8 existing stations, with all stations being serviced for the next five years, as well as a number of certified training courses to be held in First Aid and in the use of AEDs for both MGOZ workers and the general public.
He said the aim of all this is to increase awareness about the importance of this device which can save people’s lives.
The Secretary General of the Malta Cadets Corp, Etienne Micallef, spoke about the importance of this equipment and provided a demonstration on how it should be used.
Minister Camilleri concluded that the Ministry for Gozo not only commends these types of initiatives but is also ready to give its support towards something that is for the benefit of both residents and visitors.
