Between the SEC and Matriculation exams, which were held between the 29th of August and the 7th of October, a total of 150 sessions were held in 14 different centres, with the participation of 7,668 students.
There were 9 exam sessions in the homes of three students who were quarantined and that are taking courses that require special qualifications to enter.
Minister for Education Owen Bonnici, during a visit to one of the exam centres explained that, from the information received by the education authorities from the students themselves, 35 students missed one or more sessions because they were quarantined.
He explained that these 35 students will still be able to continue their studies following pronouncements made earlier this year by the tertiary institutions in our country regarding special measures for admitting students on “probation status.” Also, there were no cases of students having to drop out of the examination centre because they felt unwell.
Minister Bonnici concluded by thanking the Examinations Department, the MATSEC Board and all the staff involved for the “great work carried out so that these examinations could be conducted successfully.”
