68 new Covid-19 cases with 14 recoveries, now 820 active cases68 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the past 24-hours. There have been 14 recoveries, health authorities said, with today’s cases “still being investigated.”

From yesterday’s 95 cases, authorities said that 22 were family members of previously known cases, 1 was a direct contact of previously known cases, 11 were contacts of positive work colleagues, 1 was from social gatherings with other positive cases, 1 from the Paceville cluster and 2 cases were imported. Details were not given for the other outstanding 57 cases.

There are now 820 active cases, making it 3,844 cases in total, 2,981 have recovered and there have been 43 deaths, the Ministry said. There were 1,940 swab tests taken, with 282,095 having been taken since the start.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and [1] Control – has still to update its figures for today and is still showing for Malta that the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000, is 152.4 with the number of cases showing as 3,681 and 41 deaths. Malta is now in eleventh position in the EU/EEA and UK. Czechia is at the top with 432.7

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
