93 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the past 24-hours. There have been 31 recoveries, health authorities said, with today’s cases “still being investigated.”
From yesterday’s 68 cases, authorities said that 25 were family members of previously known cases, 2 were direct contacts of previously known cases, 4 were contacts of positive work colleagues, 1 case was imported. Details were not given for the other outstanding 36 cases.
There are now 881 active cases, making it 3,97 cases in total, 2,981 have recovered and there have been 44 deaths, the Ministry said. There were 2,257 swab tests taken, with 284,352 having been taken since the start.
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and [1] Control – is showing that up to this morning for Malta the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000, is 169.8 with the number of cases showing as 3,844 and 43 deaths. Malta is now in eleventh position in the EU/EEA and UK. Czechia is at the top with 521.5.
Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.
All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
