A record 111 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the past 24-hours There have been 52 recoveries, health authorities said, with today’s cases “still being investigated.”
From yesterday’s 93 cases, authorities said that 30 were family members of previously known cases, 6 were contacts of positive work colleagues and 1 case was from Paceville. Details were not given for the other outstanding 56 cases.
There are now 940 active cases, bringing the total number of cases up to 4,048, 3,064 have recovered and there have been 44 deaths, the Ministry said. There were 2,761 swab tests taken, with 287,113 having been taken since the start.
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and [1] Control – figures not updated today yet, so is still showing that up to yesterday morning for Malta the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000, is 169.8 with the number of cases showing as 3,844 and 43 deaths. Malta is now in eleventh position in the EU/EEA and UK. Czechia is at the top with 521.5.
Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.
All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
