Full-scale aircraft emergency exercise taking place at MIA tomorrow

Full-scale aircraft emergency exercise taking place at MIA tomorrowA full-scale aircraft emergency exercise at Malta International Airport is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, the 23rd of October.

The Airport said that this exercise will bring together key stakeholders and organisations, which would be involved in the response to an actual emergency occurring at Malta International Airport.

The exercise, which falls under the airport’s Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity Programme, is carried out on a biyearly basis to test the level of preparedness of all entities involved, as well as the adequacy of the emergency response plan in place.

Virtual means will be used whenever possible due to the current situation, with an aim to limit unnecessary interactions and protect the health and safety of all stakeholders involved, the Airport said.

Malta International Airport advised all passengers who will be travelling on the day that this exercise will not affect their journey, and remind the public that any unusual activity – including several emergency vehicles being driven in the direction of the terminal or in proximity to the airport perimeter – should not be a cause for concern.

Malta International Airport appealed to the public for their cooperation, mainly by allowing the unhindered movement of the above mentioned vehicles and refraining from obstructing roads where simulated emergency operations would be taking place.
