€150,000 investment on new lighting in 8th September Avenue, Xaghra

The completed project to install a new lighting system in Vjal it-Tmienja ta ‘Settembru, Xaghra, has been launched by Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri.

The project, which cost more than € 150,000, consisted of the replacement of 33 conventional style lamps that were installed years ago, which had deteriorated over time, for a more modern and appropriate style with energy-saving lighting and therefore less light pollution, the Minister said.

The Mayor of Xaghra Christian Zammit gave thanks to the Minister for Gozo, and said that the new lighting project was very appropriate for the main entrance of the locality of Xaghra.

The lighting system was co-financed by the Eco-Gozo Directorate within the Ministry for Gozo (€100,000) and the Xaghra Local Council (€ 50,000).
