Pope Francis has written to Mons. Mario Grech, Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops, on the occasion of his appointment as Cardinal.
In the letter, Pope Francis said that “it is my hope that this vocation to which the Lord calls you will make you grow in humility and in the spirit of service.”
Pope Francis also said that “I ask you to take care that the celebrations the faithful will hold for you be simple and far from any worldly spirit.”This morning Bishop Grech had a private audience with Pope Francis at the Apostolic Palace.
Tomorrow morning at 11.15am he will be welcomed at the Malta International Airport by delegations made up of representatives from the Maltese Episcopal Conference, the Apostolic Nunciature and the two Dioceses.

Congratulations! This is a very important post in the wide Field of the Lord. May God bless you and all that you do for Him in this important Ministry He has entrusted in your hands. You are included in my daily prayers for all those to whom I had spoken to, because I believe that nothing happens by chance.
