Vodafone sponsors print features journalism award

Vodafone Malta Limited is once again sponsoring the Print Journalism – Features category in this year’s Malta Journalism Awards, now in its 19th edition, organised by the Institute of Maltese Journalists (IGM). This category is one of the most competitive of the 13 awards.

Vodafone Malta CEO, Inaki Berroeta said, “By sponsoring the print features category, Vodafone wants to renew its support to the local media community, which support for Maltese journalists dates back to the early 1990s.”

“Feature articles, both in newspapers and magazines, give a vital insight into a particular news story, insightful background on an individual and valuable behind-the-scenes information, even drawing attention to certain subjects that the media sometimes ignore,” said Malcolm J. Naudi, IGM Chairman. “This is what makes the print media so special.”

The finalists in this category are Charlot Zahra from Media Today, Victor Vella from Union Print and Ariadne Massa from Allied Group.

Last year’s winner in the Print Journalism – Features category was Ariadne Massa from Allied Group. The first three classified in each category will receive a certificate. Each winner from the 12 categories will be awarded a cash prize of €350 and the Malta Journalism Awards trophy for the respective category in addition to the certificate.

The winner of the special category, entitled Il-Lingwa Nazzjonali fil-Gurnalizmu, will be presented with the Malta Journalism Award trophy for that category.

The winners will be revealed at a presentation ceremony to be held on Saturday May 2 at The Palace Hotel, Sliema.
