“In 2014 a new Court was to be built in Gozo. The present Court located in the Citadel is no longer suitable for use in modern times both because it is too small and because it is not accessible to everyone,” said PN spokesperson for Gozo Affairs and Constitutional Reform Chris Said.
Writing on social Media Dr Said pointed out that “this promised project has now been completely stopped.”
He stressed that “meanwhile every elderly person and person with a disability who wants to make use of the Gozo Court has a problem, just like those who work at the Court, and who are also working in an unsuitable environment.”
Chris Said went on to say that a Nationalist Government had begun the process of building a new Court in the Centre of Victoria, and applications for permits had been made.
A Labour Government with the Minister for Gozo Anton Refalo continued on this plan and the permits were obtained [1] and tenders were issued to start the work, he said.
“However, the 2017 election saw a change in the Minister for Gozo,” said Dr Said. “The new Minister Justyne Caruana stopped everything and instead of a new Court in the Centre of Victoria there was to be the construction of a new Court [2] in the middle of the Xewkija Industrial Zone.”
The Minister for Gozo was replaced again at the beginning of last year, and according to the PN spokesperson for Gozo, “Clint Camilleri has also stopped the process of a new Court in the Industrial Zone.”

It is the fault of whoever made Justyne move. If pressure was never pushed by same people complaining today of no Court, and Justyne was left to carry on her good work today Dr Said might be present with others for the opening of a new Court house in Victoria, not in the center because it is stupid to build such a busy establishment there but in the outskirts of Victoria close enough to walk from Rabat’s center.

No surprises here cause Gozo gets only promises and hot air. Its the public fault cause no one is held accountable by their vote.
