The MUT said this morning that it “is in a position to say that the strike that started this morning in schools is a great success.”
In a statement it said, “this clearly shows that educators are not ready to be led in the dark by an irresponsible Minister when the pandemic situation deserves analysis and action, as the health authorities said.”
The MUT called on the health and education authorities “to immediately analyse the pandemic situation and its effects on educators, children and families, so that they can return to physical learning with all the necessary measures.”
The union condemned the position taken by the Minister of Education, saying that, “in the most irresponsible way she continued to say that schools will be open as normal.”
“This irresponsibility was also evident when the same Minister tried to justify the Government’s decision to discriminate between sectors, arguing that online learning is of poor quality,” the MUT said.
The union stated that “this discards and insults all the efforts made by educators in the period when the schools were closed, when online learning also continued even when the schools opened, including the virtual school Teleskola, which was specifically set up at this time.
The MUT has condemned what it said are “those who are trying to shed a bad light on educators,” adding that, it “will continue to protect the interests of educators, students and families.”
It also thanked all the educators for their support.
