Appointment letters for the Covid-19 vaccine will be sent out over the next few days to all those over the age of 60, as well as those whose ages range from 71 to 74 years, Minister for Health Chris Fearne said today.
Dr Fearne explained that “as we have vaccines from different companies that are recommended for different ages, the vaccination programme will continue in parallel.”
All those over 60 will start receiving appointments from today. However, the letters of appointment will be sent gradually over a period of a few weeks, he said.
The Health Minister went on to say that currently there are about 40 vaccination centres, which includes among others all health centres, a large number of clinics in the community, Mater Dei Hospital, the University of Malta, The AFM barracks in Luqa as well as the Water Services Office in Luqa.
He stressed that “the vaccine is the best tool we have to fight Covid-19. The vaccine together with the observation of mitigation measures will be fundamental to drastically reduce the number of active Covid-19 cases in our country as soon as possible.”
