Only 2 people can gather in public from Wednesday, fine raised

Only 2 people can gather in public from Wednesday and more travel restrictionsAs from Wednesday, the 31st of March, no more than two people will be able to gather in public spaces, unless they are from the same household. This includes in queues and at bus stops, unless the social distance of two metres between is maintained.

Fines are also being increased for violators of this rule from the current €100 to €300.

These new measures being introduced are effective up until the 11th of April, Prime Minister Robert Abela announced on Sunday.

Writing on Facebook he said that these latest measures, according to the health authorities, “are necessary to keep us on track.”

The Prime Minister also advised that from tomorrow – Monday – at the airport and ports measures are being increased for anyone coming from those countries which are today considered “in the green zone – and unrestricted travel,” will be asked to “provide a negative test result on arriving in Malta, or it will be carried out here.”

These persons will be required to submit a negative PCV COVID-19 test performed no more than 72 hours prior to their arrival in Malta. Persons who fail to produce this test may be subjected to testing in Malta and may also be subject to quarantine.

Flights from countries in the red zone will remain prohibited except for repatriation trips, he said.

Abela said that while the country will continue to defend these measures, we will continue to attack the virus by vaccination so that the road to normality will start in a right way.

Yesterday I happened to switch on an old TV in my house which receives Maltese stations and first channel was the NET station. I was utterly surprised when I saw the presenter and the guest sitting on a small sofa and as close as can be without any masks or visors. I assumed it was a replay but I found out it was live. It is called Family affair. I complained to my friends and they informed me that they are of one same household, mother and two daughters and a husband. It was in Maltese. What impression if non Maltese speaking dial on this station? Or Maltese people who does not know the relationship.of presenters. I think that a small not should be written ‘The cast is of one same household’
