Those aged 16 and over will be able to register for the Covid-19 vaccine as from Monday, Minster for Health Chris Fearne has said. This will make Malta “one of the first countries in the world to offer the vaccine to the general public,” he added.
Registration for the vaccine can be done online via the website www.vaccin.gov.mt or via SMS with the Identity Card number only on 99180044 to get the vaccine in Gozo and 99180045 to get the vaccine in Malta.
Speaking during a press conference to mark the International Day for Nurses and Midwives, Dr Fearne also expressed his gratitude to all nurses and medical frontliners for everything they had done during the pandemic.
Currently registration for the vaccine is open to everyone above the age of 30. Minister Fearne urged anyone who is over 30 and has not yet registered for the vaccine to do so.
The Deputy Prime Minister also stated that negotiations have already started so that Malta can insure half a million doses of the vaccine for next year and the following year in order to be prepared for any eventuality.
