A “One Island, One Chance – Save Gozo” protest is being held tomorrow morning in Victoria, with the aim of raising awareness of the “burning issue of overdevelopment which is threatening the island.”
Sunday’s protest is being organised by a grassroots group of Gozo residents with the support of Flimkien ghal Ambjent Ahjar (FAA) and is calling for the preservation of the beautiful Mediterranean island which, the group said, “is being treated as a cash-cow by greedy developers and ignored by the authorities.”
Residents are invited to join the protest, which is taking place opposite Arkadia, starting at 10.30pm.

My wife and I have been visitors to Malta and Gozo (staying at the quality Hotel Ta’Cenc on most occasions). We have established many resident friends, and we look forward to the withdrawal of restrictions due to COVID-19 to revisit our 2nd home.
We live in southern England, formerly an area of great beauty with rolling countryside, grassy fields, woodland walks and quiet country roads. Since 2000, local authorities have engaged in increasing development for apparently needed housing (not necessarily needed by residents of the region) where the infrastructure is inadequate to support, and the character of the region is changed and lost. Country roads become race tracks and communities are no longer communal.
Gone are the days of enjoyment, warmth, safety, history and culture – the benefits of such extreme development are only available to the developer – follow the money.,. DO NOT concede to these businesses ransacking your wonderful heritage.
