AD said it notes with concern the organisation of a political activity on land belonging to a PN Member of Parliament in Mistra in connection with the MEP elections.
Spokesperson on sustainable development and local government Perit Carmel Cacopardo said:”To date land within a Special Area of Conservation protected in terms of the Habitats Directive of the EU has been flattened by heavy machinery. MEPA and the Minister of the Environment Lawrence Gonzi have once more been impotent and failed yet again in their mission to protect Malta’s natural heritage.”
AD Chairperson Arnold Cassola said:”AD supports the call by Nature Trust and Din l-Art Helwa and calls on the Prime Minister and MEPA to wake up from their slumber and do their duty and stop immediately the activities at the Mistra site.”
