Prime Minister Robert Abela speaking to journalists on Monday, said that the general election will be in 2022.
He said that a holding a general election this year is “not in the national interest.”
The 27th of November had been rumoured as a potential date for the election, and for that to have happened Parliament would have needed to be dissolved in the coming days.
The Government now has until the 3rd of June next year to dissolve Parlimanent and announce a date for the general election.
