Clifton Grima has been appointed as Minister for Education and Sport by the Prime Minister. Grima was previously Parliamentary Secretary for Sport, Recreation and Voluntary Organisations.
Grima replaces previous the Minister Dr Justyne Caruana who resigned from her post [1] on the 22nd of December.
Between June 2017 and January 2020, Grima served as Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, where he was responsible for Youth, Sport and Voluntary Organisations.
In a statement on Monday, it said that the Ministry for Inclusion and Quality of Life will continue to be responsible for youth and voluntary organisations, and will be renamed the Ministry for Inclusion, Quality of Life and Voluntary Organisations.
Writing on Facebook the new Education Minister said, ”I am honoured to have been entrusted with such an important responsibility that the present and future of our students depends on.”
He went on to say that that he was committed to continue working within the Cabinet a well as working with all stakeholders involved, including educators, students and even parents, in order to achieve important results in the field of education.
Grima also said that he would continue to work to achieve important results in the sports sector which has now been elevated to ministerial level.
