His Eminence Gerardo Majella Cardinal Agnelo, Primate of Brazil and Archbishop of Salvador, Bahia, in the south of Brazil, has paid a visit to Gozo on the occasion of the Pauline year. He was accompanied on the visit by Mgr Ademar Dantas, Vicar General of the archdiocese.
His Eminence visited the parish of Ghajnsielem, where he was welcomed and shown around by Can Frankie Bajada, the Archpriest. In a short but very symbolic ceremony, he inaugurated a course of catechises on the Beatitudes. This course is related to a project launched by the parish for the acquisition of a new set of bells.
His Eminence was warmly greeted by a group of parishioners from Ghajnsielem. When the visit to the parish had concluded he was presented with a painting of Saint Paul, executed specifically by the Ghajnsielem based artist Paul Stellini.
His visit to Ghajnsielem Parish Church was also broadcast live on Radio Lauretana
