This year the administration of the La Stella Society, along with the committee in charge of the Festival Mediterranea, have chosen to put on the opera Rigoletto. This opera will be performed at the Astra theatre for the third time, after the previous performances of the 15th of September 1978 and the 28th of March 1998.
As in other years there will be two performances of the opera, the first on Thursday, the 29th of October and the second on Saturday, the 31st of October.
This production will be undoubtedly one of the most anticipated of events during the eighth edition of the Festival Mediterranea, which is organised by the La Stella Philharmonic Society, between October and November of this year.

The opera Rigoletto will be taking place with the participation of, Peter Danailov, in the part of Rigoletto, Miriam Cauchi (soprano) in the part of Gilda, Antonino Interisano in the role of Duke of Mantua, Franco de Grandis in the part of Sparafucile and Emilia Boteva who will interpret the role of Maddalena. For baritone Peter Danailov this will be his first appearance in the Astra Theatre.
The artistic direction for yet another year will be with Mario Corradi, while music will be in the hands of Prof Joseph Vella. The National Philharmonic Orchestra (leader Marcelline Agius) and the theatrical choir (choir mistress Dr Maria Frendo).
