The Gozo Motocross Association Championship semi-final took place on Sunday at Ta Xhajma Motocross Track.
With the final round of the Gozo motocross Championship 2022.fuelledby Enemed just round the corner, Steve Xuereb, Biuren Grima, Joseph Gauci and Jake Camilleri are leading their respective classes on the road to victory.
The organisers said that “the day was windy and very dusty, nevertheless, this did not stop the riders from taking on that extra challenge.”
Riders of Class A – Mario Cauchi and Steve Xuereb put in an exciting display of racing. Cauchi won heat 1, while Xuereb got the other two, placing him further up on the score board.
Class B was just as challenging with Robert Spiteri, Biuren Grima and Joseph Bigeni, striving hard for first place. Bigeni beat Grima who is top of Class B by winning two heats out of three, giving him first placement on the podium. He was followed by Grima in second place and Spiteri in third. Nevertheless, Grima remains at the top of his game, on his way to victory.
Class C, was dominated by Maltese riders. Joseph Gauci came in first place and is leading Class C. Meanwhile, William Sant placed second followed by Matthew Buttigieg.
Class D saw young rider Antoni Said in first place. Although he had a slight mishap in third third heat, he still kept his place at the top. Jake Camilleri, who is dominating this class in the championship won second place, followed by Justin Borg.
Matthias Sultana, Trystn Theuma, Craig Piscopo, Diego Panza, Isaac Borg, Eli Grech, Zac Tabone, Jayden Buhagiar – the junior riders put on a great show as they challenged each other across the rough terrain.
All riders were awarded trophies sponsored by Christopher Briffa Casual Bikers and Alex Debono at Sports Experience Trophies & Awards
The Finals of the Gozo Motocross Championship 2022 will take place on Sunday, the 8th of May at Ta Xhajma Track where the Champions will be crowned for their efforts throughout the whole Motocross season. Races start at 1:00pm.
The association said that it encourages and welcomes new riders.
