In a press conference held this morning during the NGOs activity at the Gozo Sports Complex, the Malta Red Cross Gozo Branch said that it would ask the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations to investigate its suspension by the Malta Red Cross [1].
Etienne Micallef, said that no reasons had been given for the suspension, and that jealousy issues against the branch could be part of it, but that any allegations that had been made against the Gozo branch were unproved. Mr Micallef had previously been the secretary of the branch until yesterdays resignation by the committee [2].
Mr Micallef went on to say that the Gozo branch was still at that time locked out of its premises, proving it impossible for it to respond to calls for help, and hoped that the matter could be resolved with the utmost speed so that the people of Gozo would not suffer from a lack of help.
