The Malta Red Cross Society General Secretary, Edward Caruana, has issued a statement announcing the suspension of all operations and functions at its Gozo branch, with immediate effect.
The statement gave no reasons for the decision, but said the decision was taken at the annual general meeting held on the 18th of November and was confirmed by the National Board which convened on the 18th and again on the 25th of November.
A spokesperson for the Gozo branch said that none of the Gozo officials had been given any reason whatsoever for the sudden closure.
