Paul Azzopardi, the Mayor of Xewkija, was welcomed as a special guest at the recent inauguration [1] in Sicily of a book entitled ‘Malta-Pachino, una storia in comune,’ the first step towards the twinning of Xewkija with Pachino in Sicily.
Last Saturday, the book was officially launched in Malta in the presence of Minister of Gozo Dr Anton Refalo, the Mayor of Pachino Dr Paolo Bonaiuto and the Mayor of Xewkija Mr Paul Azzopardi.
The book by Dr Arnold Cassola and Dr Dilvio Aliffi, looks at the first Maltese families who set up the city of Pachino. Through research done by Dr Ray Bondin it seems that most of those families came from Xewkija.

I think the special guest during the launch of this book apart from the Minister of Gozo Dr Anton Refalo and the writer of this book himself Dr Arnold Cassola, should be the Mayor of Pachino Dr Paolo Bonaiuto who had travelled to Gozo from Sicily for this occasion with all respect to the humble Mayor of Xewkija Mr Paul Azzopardi.
