In a question to Minister Leo Brincat in Parliament on Monday evening, Dr Chris said the Shadow Minister for Gozo, asked why work to transform the former waste dump at Qortin, Xaghra into a family park had been stopped.
In his reply, Environment Minister Leo Brincat said that a substantial part of the site had been transferred to Enemalta last year. Enemalta will be installing photovoltaic panels on there.
Dr Said pointed out later that the site had been closed for seven years, and much work had already been carried out, which had also benefited from the use of EU funds.
He added that the family park had already been given the MEPA permits, "it should be an area to be enjoyed by all Gozitan families, and instead it will become an eyesore that will be seen from almost everywhere in Gozo."
The Shadow Minister for Gozo also spoke out about the Government's proposal to build a Primary School on the football ground in Victoria.
He questioned its close proximity to the main bus terminus, with pollution etc. as well as no consultation on the proposal with the Victoria Local Council, or the 3 football clubs who currently use the ground.

Can’t they install the PV panels on stilts (or something similar) so that they can act as shading for people to still enjoy the family park, whilst generating electricity.

The waiting areas on both Ferry sites are a better idea as i recommend since 10 years .
Also the can install parks on the car park in Victoria as a big roof or in Ta Qali .
