Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri Parliamentary Secretary for Youth and Sport Clifton Grima, have presided over the signing of agreement of the transfer of land in Victoria between SportMalta and S.K. Victoria Wanderers.
They explained that the piece of land, measuring 325 square metres, will have a 45-year lease, and is to be developed into a sports club for Victoria SK Wanderers in the centre of Victoria. The project, they said, is coming to fruition after many years of waiting.
Back in 2012, the then MEPA [1] issued permits for a new club premises directly below the belvedere adjacent to the children’s play area and bus station in Main Gate Street, Victoria, which comprised a new two storey building.
However, the project was set for a number of delays, with objections and appeals from the resident adjoining the land where the proposed club was to be built, as well as delays over the land devolution for the plot in question.
The Minister for Gozo, Clint Camilleri, said that through this transfer of land Victoria SK Wanderers will have the sports club they deserve, adding that this government “wants to foster and strengthen the sports culture from an early age.”
Parliamentary Secretary for Youth and Sport Clifton Grima stressed that this transfer “demonstrates the government’s commitment to continue to deliver on its electoral sports promises.”
