Gozo SPCA has said that to maintain its support for the 80 stray cat colony feeders in Gozo by providing them with free food, it would cost between €1,200 – €1,500 per month.
This follows the Society’s statement on Friday [1], when it said that it was sadly having to suspend giving out free food for stray cat feeders in Gozo.
Due to the decline in public donations as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, and now the legal restrictions [2] being placed on charity collection boxes and charity shops, the Society said that it needs an additional income of at least €500 a month, which may need to increase to €1,000 depending on how the situation develops during the year.
Gozo SPCA stressed that “this is not a one off just for this month and next, but an ongoing issue. One family has already pledged to donate €20 by direct debit every month – we need many more pledges like that. €20 buys a 20kg bag of cat food. €8 pays for 24 tins.”
