PN urges Prime Minister to resolve matter of Police quarantine leave

PN urges Prime Minister to resolve matter of Police quarantine leaveThe Nationalist Party has expressed solidarity with the Police and its union – the POU – over their dispute [1] regarding quarantine leave being considered as sick leave.

The Nationalist Party urged the Prime Minister to ensure that the matter is resolved as soon as possible.

In a statement, Beppe Fenech Adami Opposition Spokesperson for Home Affairs, National Security and Citizenship, stressed that as frontliners members of the Police Force were also hit by the pandemic with the consequence that, in line with the Health Authorities directives, they had to stay in quarantine.

The Police union have been arguing for weeks that such absence from work should be considered as quarantine leave and not as sick leave, the PN said. “After waiting weeks, this matter has still not been resolved.”

This has led to the Police Officers Union now being forced to issue various directives to it members with effect from tomorrow, the PN said.
