The Police Officers ‘ Union (POU) has issued directives to its members that as from Tuesday morning at 6am, they should not wear a tie, a uniform hat, or to shave.

The POU in a statement, said that this action is being taken after having lodged a complaint some weeks ago about sick leave, for which no progress has been made in the subsequent talks.

The union explained that the industrial dispute is regarding quarantine leave – so if police test positive for Covid-19 the days in quarantine are currently being deducted from their sick leave. “As a result, Sunday money and other allowances are also being lost,” it said.

“It is not excluded that if things remain as they are then further directives will be added,” the POU said.

It concluded by saying that, “we encourage our members to follow these directives and not to be intimidated.”
